HORVÁTH KÁLMÁN

I was born in 1975. I started being interested in painting in my primary school-days. Since then I have been fond of bright and intensive colours. I think that the one who wants to paint should have the guts to use the colours; a graphic artist has more liberty in this respect.

After finishing the primary school first I learned the trade of a house-painter's. Then I was given a scholarship by the Hollóháza PorcelainFactory and completed my time as a china painter. During that period I had sever al exhibitions mainly in Nyíregyháza, Miskolc, Gyöngyös, Sátoraljaújhely and occasionally in Budapest as well. Once I was asked to enter for an international drawing competition and it resulted in a permanent exhibition in Stockholm.

While working as a china painter, I challenged myself in another branch of art. I went on the stage and my recitations of poetry met with success in national competitions. Among them the 10th Jubilee "Ki Mit Tud?" (cca. What Are You Good At?) Contest, organized by MTV (Hungarian Television) in 1996 was followed with the greatest interest. I set high value on my Kazinczy Prize I won in the national competition called "Szép magyar beszéd" (Speaking Hungarian in a Nice Way) in Győr in 1993. My job is due to my appearances on the stage: I work for the Duna Television Channel as an announcer. Besides it I am studying the profession of an editor-reporter in Kodolányi János College.
